HOW DO I CARE FOR MY SHOES?

For oily leather and waxed split leather, we recommend cleaning the leather with a damp sponge and then applying a colorless grease using a soft cloth. To remove any scratches, apply a small amount of shoe polish. We do not recommend using Sapo grease as it breaks down the fibers of the leather to soften it, thereby damaging its integrity. Instead, use natural greases such as those available on our website in the “Care and Repair” section. Note: if you do not wear your shoes for a long time, a thin white film may appear. This comes from the leather and helps to protect it. To remove it, you can wipe your shoes with a soft cloth or heat them with a hair dryer to allow the grease to penetrate the leather again. For Camargue croupon, suede, or glitter leather, it is essential to apply a waterproofing agent before first use to protect your shoes from liquids that could stain them. However, to remove stains, you can use a sponge and soap. If this is not enough, you will need to brush the leather with a soft metal brush (brass, for example), or use a suede eraser or very fine-grained sandpaper. For grease stains, you can apply a dry stain remover, F gasoline, or Sommières® clay. We recommend testing the product on an inconspicuous area of the shoe before applying it to the entire surface. Python-print leather and suede should be waterproofed with a solvent-free waterproofing spray before wearing them for the first time. You can also use a comb to clean the hair.

Note: during the first few days of wearing your boots or ankle boots, your heel may lift slightly inside the boot. This temporary phenomenon (lasting about 10 days) is completely normal: the sole is made up of different layers of leather, which make it very stiff. It takes time to “break in” the sole and make it more flexible. After this period, the heel lift will disappear. If the heel lift is too significant, it is possible that the shoe is not the right fit (too large or too narrow across the instep). In this case, please contact our customer service department by email at info@labottegardiane.com.

CUSTOM-MADE: HOW DO I TAKE MY MEASUREMENTS?

If you would like to order custom-made boots, download our custom-made guide and follow the step-by-step instructions. We also provide some tips on how to take your measurements below.

‍Measuring the circumference of your calf:‍

We recommend taking this measurement while seated, barefoot, ensuring that your foot is flat on the floor. Measure the circumference of your calf at its widest point, taking into account the height of the boot.

Measuring the height of your boot:

To take this measurement, stand up straight, barefoot, with your feet flat on the floor. For ease, ask someone else to measure the height you want from the floor along the side of your leg. The maximum boot height is 3 cm below the hollow of the knee, as a boot that reaches the hollow of the knee may get in the way when you squat. Note that this measurement does not take into account the total height of the boot (including the sole and heel).

Measuring the instep:

For the instep, the easiest way is to determine whether you have a narrow, high, or normal instep based on other shoes you have worn. If in doubt, please contact our customer service department by email at info@labottegardiane.com.
